Freedom
It should have been a time of rejoicing for freed slaves right after Emancipation. But instead, with the creation of black codes, kangaroo courts, unjust criminalization of black people, many were caught for life in the early prison industrial complex system. These multimedia pieces and collages were created in response to this injustice both past and present.
